44.  “Gloom Cupboard” #38 has published a poem “Light Bulb Heat.”  Not sure why, but this is one of my favorite poems I’ve ever written.  There’s also a lot of wonderful work up online by other artists, too.

31. My poem “Balance” won Third Place in the 2007 Caldwell Literary Competition. Winners read their works at a reception and cash prizes were awarded. I enjoyed hearing the other works that won.

30. “The Perfection of Pinecones” is one of my poems that has been published in the Autumn 2007 issue of “Inspirit” the literary journal of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church.

11. My literary short story “The Moon’s Silhouette” is in the December 2006 of the Australian magazine, “Skive Magazine.” I also have a poem up in the November 2006 online magazine, “Andwerve.”

10. I have three poems in the latest issue of “Heritage Writer”. “Heritage Writer” publishes articles on the mechanics of researching, recording, and preserving our heritage along with poems and essays about interesting family members and about the personal side of historical events. Two of my published poems are about North Carolina legends, “The Cat and the Carroll A. Deering” and “The Footprints of Nathaniel Batts.” The other is on the the first man to receive Social Security. If you are interested in heritage, ancestry, etc. and even if you aren’t this is a great publication!

9. My poem Peaches and Blame is currently online in the Scottish publication,”Open Mouse.” “Open Mouse” is part of Poetry Scotland.

7. “Spiky Palm” has published my poem “How To Catch a Pinwheel” in their Summer 2006 (Vol. 3, Issue 2) issue. The issue contains a lot of good poems by other folks as well.

5. Silver Moon Magazine has just published my mystery short story, “Flying Backwards” in their May 2006 issue. You have to be a subscriber to read it, though! The story is set in the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico. The Bisti Badlandsare close to Farmington and where dinosaur tracks can be found. It’s an interesting spot to visit but very very hot!

4. My short story, Jaden’s View of Jupiter has just been published by SouthLit.com — a site specializing in contemporary southern literature. They publish poetry, fiction, book reviews, humor and also have interviews. “Jaden’s View of Jupiter” is set in the south, of course! Check it out. Their issues are free to read. This was published in the May 2006 issue.

3. Had a couple of poems accepted in GHOTI and a few more upcoming to possibly be noted here later. The new chapbook, Average Bears is out too. Have also made some updates to the Route 66: In Fiction, Poetry and Real Lifeblog as well. And have added one on Suicide Pumpkins.

2. I added a new poem today to my online poetry chapbook. It’s called “Electric Sky.” Maybe it’s a protest poem for the environment. Either way, it seems the south always seems to be a dumping ground for junk (old cars, washers, dryers, you name it, I’ve seen it in people’s yards). Maybe it’s like that everywhere. 1. Some of my latest poetry can be found at Adagio Verse Quarterly, Word Riot, Tales of the Talisman and Ultraverse. My short story “Paint” is currently up on Southern Hum. I’m in the process of working on some new poems and editing a novel. I haven’t done much with short fiction lately, but that isn’t my favorite writing form anyway.
